Free indie game marketing calculators. See the numbers before you pay for them.

A social media reach calculator by genre, an outreach pace planner, a Steam wishlists to revenue calculator and a Steam page checklist. Four tools that run in your browser. None of them asks for your email. Under every result we print the assumptions, because a number without its assumptions is an advert. We can guarantee the work: the posts, the videos, the messages. Reach depends on your genre, so we show it as a range.

Benchmarks are refreshed every January.

    Same pitch, three different openings
The assumptions, and the two limits we never break

No text is ever sent twice. Every destination gets its own title and its own opening, because the same text in many places is the fastest way to get an account flagged, and a translation does not count as a different text. The pace is the limit, not the wording: on Facebook, group joins dropped from about 8 to 4 a day once our account was flagged, and pushing on through a soft warning is what turns it into a restriction. When a platform slows you down, stop for the day. We also read each group, subreddit or forum’s rules before writing a word, and when a creator’s bio asks for email, they get email, not a DM. The reply rates are illustrative averages per channel.

      03 · Wishlists to revenue

What do your wishlists pay out?

      Example game

      Paid to you, launch week0
      Paid to you, first year0
      Copies, first year0
Paid to you per month, 1 to 12Months with a seasonal Steam sale
      The assumptions

Launch week is wishlists × conversion, sold at the launch discount. The first year is launch week × the multiple you set; month 1 takes at least the launch week and 45% of the year, the rest fades by about a fifth each month, and every third month a seasonal sale sells 60% more copies at 25% off. From every sale we take off the share lost to regional pricing, about 12% for VAT and sales tax, Steam’s 30% cut, and refunds. What is left is what lands in your account before your own income tax. Nothing else is added.

      04 · Steam page check

        How the score works

Each check carries a weight from 4 to 10, by how much it moves a visitor from looking to wishlisting. The score is the sum of the weights you ticked, out of 100. We do not read your page from here: the full teardown, with screenshots and rewritten copy, is the first thing we do when we work together.

        How to use these calculators

Start from the end. Decide what the first year of sales has to pay you, then open the wishlists to revenue calculator and move the wishlist slider until the first-year figure gets there. That is your wishlist target.

Next, see what fills the gap. The reach calculator shows what a month of subreddit posts, short videos and creator outreach does in your genre, and the outreach pace planner shows how long that outreach takes without getting an account flagged.

Last, check the page all that traffic lands on. The Steam page checklist ranks the fixes that turn the most visitors into wishlists.

        Questions

        How accurate are these calculators?

They are benchmarks, not forecasts. Every result prints its assumptions, and reach is shown as a range from half to almost double the expected value, because your art, your hook and your timing move it more than any average can. The benchmark data is refreshed every January.

What is a good Steam wishlist conversion rate?

Published studies put the median launch-week conversion, sales in the first week divided by wishlists, somewhere between about 10% and 27%, depending on the sample and how long the window is. The revenue calculator starts at 11% to 18% by genre. If your page is weak or your launch is crowded, plan for the low end.

How many wishlists do I need to launch on Steam?

There is no single number: it depends on your price, your genre and what the game has to earn. Work backwards in the wishlists to revenue calculator: set your price, then raise the wishlists until the first-year figure covers what you need.

Can IndiePump guarantee wishlists, views or sales?

No, and nobody honestly can. We guarantee the work: the number of posts, short videos and creator messages in your package. Views, reactions, followers and coverage depend on the game, which is why the reach calculator shows them as a range.

How often can I post my game on Reddit?

We post at most four times a month in any one subreddit, and only after reading its rules. Reaching 100 posts a month means spreading them over genre, platform and regional subreddits, never repeating the same text.

Do the calculators store my data?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere or saved, and no email is asked.
